Lindsay MacInnis has long been interested in the body's natural ability to heal itself.
Her personal study began in the 1980's when her father was dying of cancer. When
pain medications were failing to bring relief, Lindsay discovered the power of nurturing
touch when a simple foot massage brought comfort and relaxation to her ailing father.
Massage as pain maintenance has been a subject of independent study ever since.
A graduate of the Body Therapy Center in Palo Alto, CA, Lindsay has studied the
modalities of Swedish/Relaxation Massage, Deep Tissue Massage and Trigger Point
Therapy. Upon receiving her professional certification, Lindsay went on to receive
Advanced Certification in Pregnancy Massage, studying under such recognized experts
in the field as Elaine Stillerman, LMT - New York, NY, and Carol Osborne-Sheets, CMT
- San Diego, CA.
Inspired by the discomforts of her own pregnancy, Lindsay turned the focus of her practice
to working with pregnant and postpartum women. Her vision was to offer massage therapy
as adjunctive healthcare during the birthing year including guided meditation to the
prenatal and postpartum therapies.
Lindsay possesses a nurturing spirit combined with attentive listening skills. People
instinctively trust her. Using guided imagery, meditation and breathing techniques,
massage, aromatherapy, yoga poses and stretches, Lindsay helps women and their bodies
prepare for the miracle of childbirth.
"It's the most rewarding work I've ever done," says Lindsay when asked what she likes
most about working with pregnant women. "Through each pregnancy, I witness the birth
of a mother, the birth of a child and the creation of a family. It's pure joy and I am
so thankful to be doing this work."
